    • In multiverse theories, every choice gets made in some universe. So, there is no real choice between a and b to be made, you just happen to find yourself in your particular branch of the multiverse where a was chosen. The corollary of this view is that every possible universe is equally real.

  • God as an agent is an incoherent notion – the eternal can't act – but God as the ultimate attractor in a dynamical system...well, that almost gets past my filters. And if you believe in some sort of anthropic selection amongst possible worlds, well, it is tautological that any observed universe will be one in which consciousness has evolved.

    • Roughly the idea that all possible worlds exist, but only the ones that generate mind and consciousness are going to be perceived. We are in one of those, of course.
    • The nice thing about this is that it effectively explains how mind can bootstrap itself out of nothing, or in this case, everything.
    • Just like Darwin explained how biological function arises out of sheer randomness + selection, this explains how existence and consciousness arise out of randomness plus this larger-scale selection. All universes exist (are equprobable), but most aren't perceived. Only the relatively orderly ones permit that.
